Thing 1 - Life Long Learning

Our first post is supposed to be about life long learning. We watched an online tutorial about the concept of life long learning. It was interesting because it reminded me that life long learning is a much broader concept than just professional development. I often think of life long learning as being something I need to do to keep current with my profession, much like how health care professionals need to take so many credits of CE in a year to remain certified. But the tutorial reminded me that even things not related to work are good for us to do in order to continue learning, like reading or learning a new skill.

We were asked which habit of the 7 1/2 habits would be the easiest for me. Likely habit #6 would be easiest for me. That is the habit about using technology to your advantage. I definitely try to incorporate technology into what I do if it will help me save time or be more organized. I like especially like learning about technology that can help me save time.

The habit that will be the hardest for me is #3 - to view problems as challenges. It is difficult to view problems in a positive manner, and I believe that is what this habit is recommending. Instead of viewing problems as a crisis, we should instead be more optimistic about problems and know that in the end we will learn something from a problem. I'm sure that keeping a more positive outlook on problems with not only assist with solving the problem but will also help me to learn something from it too.

Hello, Melissa. I often feel pretty far behind with technology -- I know what blogs and wikis are, but I never really feel like I have time to dig in and try to use them. I'm hopeful that this class will spark some personal and professional interest in keeping current with these tools.

Enjoy the 13 Things class!

Peace,
Tracey.

Hello Melissa, I don't know much about blogging other than people talking about it. I have never taken the time to get involved so I am excited to be taking this class to learn more about it.

Take care,
Donna

Hey! I started my Blog origianlly for the MLA 2.0 class, ands to be honest didn'treally update it much after class was over. Several of my classmates have personal and professional blogs where they discuss there experiences at different events, classes, trainings, and conferences. I guess I just never thought anyone would care what I thought. But I am now realizing that web 2.0 is all about disemination of information, so I plan on making a concerted effort to keep mine updated.

i admire you for being one who is "tech savvy". i am still not sure if i like it or not. i think i might be having too much fun, though. well, its fun for me, anyways.

and i can see we both have some difficulties with problems being challenges. i mean honestly - who thinks that way?!

I have a difficulty with viewing problems as challenges too. Looking a the state of the world today though, we better start learning to think this way or we'll surely end up in despair. There are so many problems, I mean challenges, to work on....
